Give a gift that makes an immediate impact and receive tax benefits when you support Nikkei Place
A gift of securities to Nikkei Place Foundation can have an immediate impact, as well as let you take advantage of the tax benefits that come with donating publicly traded securities.
Donating publicly traded securities allows you to eliminate any capital gains tax that you would have to pay if you sold the securities and then donated the proceeds. You will also receive a charitable tax receipt for the full market value of the securities you donate.
Securities can include stocks, mutual funds, segregated funds, bonds, flow-through shares, and employee stock options.
You can donate now, or as part of your estate and will planning.
How to Donate Securities:
Consult your financial advisor to decide which investments make the most financial and philanthropic impact.
Ask your broker to transfer your securities to Nikkei Place Foundation by completing the appropriate transfer form.
Contact us to let us know you have made a gift, so we can show our appreciation.

Sakura Gala
Our annual spring fundraising dinner in support of future generations at Nikkei Place.
During this evening, we highlight inspiring heroes from the Japanese Canadian community through our Thomas Shoyama Lifetime Achievement Award. Past awardees include Dr. David Suzuki, Joy Kogawa, and Arthur Hara, among others.
We also support the potential of future generations by awarding our Nikkei Youth Athletics Bursary.
Nikkei Matsuri
One of the Largest Japanese Festivals in Canada! This 2-day annual summer festival at Nikkei Centre has something for everyone, at any age, and aims to showcase the pride of Japanese culture here in Canada.
It draws in over 14,000 people, and brings all of the elements of visiting a ‘matsuri’ (festival) in Japan to our backyard here in Burnaby.
Nikkei Place Charity Classic
Join the fight to Beat the Odds of Dementia! Funds raised will help seniors living with dementia lead fulfilling lives.
Help ensure we can continue to provide dementia-friendly programs at Nikkei Place and outreach within Burnaby and into Vancouver.
Nikkei Awards Dinner
This awards dinner honours community members, groups, and organizations that have made significant and outstanding contributions to the Nikkei Community in Canada.
Designate your donation towards different funds
Donations can be designated to specific funds (listed above). When making your donation to a fund, please ensure you make a memo of the fund on your donation form or cheque.
